How to make Habits Easy

Creating Habits That Stick

Phttps://youtu.be/Wcs2PFz5q6g – The Science of making and breaking habits

According to Pyschological Literature, it takes roughly 18 days to 254 days to form a habit.

famous You-tuber and Neuroscientist ,Andrew Hubberman ,his readings , he laments says that their are 2 types of habits, namely,

  1. Identity or Goal based Habits which takes time to adopt and
  2. Habits that make other habits easier to execute

Identity or Goal based habits m

As someone who cannot cook and doesn’t intend to learn (I say this with utmost shame), I find that its not easy to source the best quality or most nutrient dense foods. As a result of this, I’m often tempted to take the most lazy route of buying what is cheap an what is available, which is fried fish or in past, any fried meat.

Habits that make other habits easier to execute

According to Hubberman, taking walks after a meal can speed glucose variance, and improve cardiovascular health. It took some people various days, between 18 to 254 days, as was stated above.

It may have taken some people the latter amount of tie because of the amount of hard work it took – going from being hardly inactive – think couch potato to active.

This hard work , Hubberman  boastfully coined as Limbic friction – which for us, translates as understanding or measuring the states required to perform a task and for it to develop into a habit. Like ,right now I may be to lazy to gift myself 3 glasses of water much less the arguably 8 glassed recommended by professionals and non professionals of the internet world.

What habits do you perform on a daily basis?

Hubberman dissected Limbic friction by further lamenting that our Autonomic nervous system are either in 2 states. People are either alert, calm, anxious or distracted to do some tasks, even with the utmost boost in motivation.

I’m in love with the idea of  Linchpin habits because they make other habits easier to do.  I don’t like working out but I love to walk my dog Zeus early in the day. Walking my dog early in the day allows me to work out, improve my heart function and get a breather from working at home. I feel great knowing that my Strava App is tracking my almost effortless attempt to be healthy.

These habits are easy to execute and make other habits of eating less fried foods manageable because walking helps me be to be more conscientious of my diet and exercise goals

Which habits are easy for you?
