Observing Nature, Being Mindful – August 6, 2021

Flies are invading my face and chair

There is some fried plantain in the kitchen. Apparently that’s an invitation for flies to harass us.

My neighbour’s daughter, Kayan is crying. She is hot and prefers to stay into her blow up pool all day.

I’ve mopped the place with bleach, sprayed Febreeze until it filled our lungs, but to no avail.

I’m about to take my grandma to see her sister. It’s a Friday ritual. Curfew ends at 3.p.m today to curtail the spike of Covid cases.

People are scheduled to go to the beach at 3.

They have given up on obeying government’s orders.

The people are tired and homesick

I live close to Hellshire beach; one of Jamaica’s most popular beaches.

I’m anticipating the traffic on the road when I’m returning home.

I don’t mind the drive out

I’m concerned about a work email I sent but received no favorable response.

Today is Jamaica’s Independence Day. It’s a holiday. I shouldn’t be thinking about work.

Ordinarily the day would host many festivals in commemoration and celebration of freedom from British rule.

I struggle to see the benefit of this Independence.

I haven’t seen much growth , But that is for another blog.

What a BamBam is playing on the radio. It’s a popular song by Toots and the Maytals.

I am hungry. I am not too much attached to these types of celebrations.

I’m not really sure what is there to celebrate politically.

But personally , I have much to be grateful for.

It’s 10:11.a.m. And stray dogs are barking.

Kayan is finally getting her pool bath.
